Michael J Weiss & Associates is a great place to go to if you are seeking a helpful resources. Our practice was founded by Michael Weiss in 1984 and has consistently provided expert cosmetic dental services to the community. Many of our patients come to us for cosmetic dental bonding or veneers. While the two procedures are sometimes mentioned in the same breath, there definitely are differences. One procedure might work better in a specific patient’s situation than the other. Let’s take a look at the two options.
Your helpful resources, at Michael J Weiss & Associates may choose to use veneers to correct certain cosmetic aspects of your smile. Porcelain veneers are great for treating tooth gaps, chips, stains or misshapen teeth; widely spaced teeth; and narrow teeth. Veneers are a wonderful solution for patients who want to make adjustments to the look of their smile. The veneers are actually thin, custom-made shells that cover the front side of your teeth. They are made from-tooth colored material, most often porcelain. Dental bonding uses a cosmetic resin. It can correct many of the same problems that veneers can. To apply, tooth-colored resin is shaped and molded, then cured on the patient’s teeth using a special light. Once treatment is completed it is virtually impossible to see where the bonding stops and the actual tooth begins. This process may sometimes be preferred by the patient; it is relatively inexpensive and treatment can be completed in a single day. What makes one treatment beneficial over the other often depends on the extent of the tooth damage.
Your dentist at Michael J Weiss & Associates, your helpful resources, can advise you as to which procedure will work best for your situation. When smaller repairs are needed, bonding is usually the best option as it does not require a lot of alteration of the natural tooth. Also, it is a less complex procedure and can be completed in one day. If your smile is in need of more extensive correction, the better choice may be veneers. Oftentimes, veneers will result in a more natural look than dental bonding. This is especially true if a greater amount of work needs to be done. Also, you have a chance to inspect the look of the veneers before they are permanently attached to your teeth. However, it does take a dentist trained in cosmetic procedures to determine which is the better procedure for you.
